Atlanta Christmas Tree Lighting Guide

This coming week of Thanksgiving is a time to visit with family and carry on traditions and sometimes start new ones.  Grab the family and visit one the many Christmas Tree Lighting’s around town.  Fun for the whole family!   Guide provided by Creative Loafing Atlanta.


Atlantic Station Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Saturday, Nov. 22. 12 p.m.-9 p.m. Live music, entertainment, and kids activities all day. At 7:30 p.m. the holiday parade will begin. Santa Claus will arrive to light the Christmas tree and start a magical snowfall.

Avondale Estates Annual City Christmas Tree Lighting. Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road. Monday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Festivities begin with Boy Scout Troop 6 giving away cookies. The Avondale Estates First Baptist Church begins caroling at 6:30 p.m. Tree lighting and cider and doughnuts to be served at approximately 7 p.m. Santa Claus to make an appearance.

Decatur Tree Lighting. Little Shop of Stories. Thursday, Dec. 4. 7 p.m. Event includes caroling, cocoa, snow, and appearance by Santa Claus.

Hapeville for the Holidays: Tree Lighting. Jess Lucas Y-Teen Park. Tuesday, Nov. 25. 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Annual event includes crafts, games, music, Santa Claus visits, non-denominational Community Thanksgiving Service, and tree lighting ceremony.

Lighting of the Macy’s Great Tree. Lenox Square Mall. Thursday, Nov. 27. The lighting of Atlanta’s most recognized Christmas tree takes place on Thanksgiving night.
