Atlanta Market Brief: June 2016

The June 2016 Market Report from the Atlanta REALTORS®  Association showed continued gains in the Atlanta housing market.

A Word from 2016 ARA President Lane McCormack: “We are halfway through 2016 and the unit sales are up over 7% with 1,812 units more than the same time last year.  We are excited to see our housing market remains strong and robust with average sales price increases year over year.  I encourage homeowners and home purchasers to continue to use a REALTOR® for pricing and purchasing guidance in their transaction.” 

Demand: June residential sales were at 5,392 a decrease of 6.1% from the previous year.

Price: Average and median sales prices continue to gain traction and outpace 2015’s figures with positive gains.  The median sales price in June was $253,000, an increase of 7.7% from last June.  The average sales price was $311,000, up 3.3% from the previous year.

Supply: Atlanta area housing inventory totaled 16,304 units in June, a decrease of 2.3% from June 2015.  New listings totaled 5,848, up 20.4% from June 2015 and up 7.7% from the previous month.  The supply for sales over a 12 month period increased to 3.6 months.
