Blue Skies in Reynoldstown

Elan 144 Update

It seems like it has been cold and gray for weeks. But, I downloaded some pictures I took of the Elan 144 development just a few days ago, and the skies are clear and blue. How quickly I forgot the beautiful weather! Things are moving along with the project. Dirt is being moved. Pipes laid underground. Lots of big, yellow equipment moving busily here and there.

Reynoldstown Home Sales Statistics

This is an exciting time for real estate in Reynoldstown. The revitalization is gaining lots of momentum. I pulled some stats about single-family home sales from the FMLS (First Multiple Listing Service) that I think are extremely encouraging.

In 2012, 30 homes were sold with an average sale price of about $148,000. In 2013, 44 homes were sold with an average sale price of about $217,000. In 2014, 69 homes were sold with and average sale price of $257,000.

Reynoldstown News

I attended the Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League meeting last night and learned a lot. (Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Lang Carson Community Center located at 100 Flat Shoals Ave.) Here are a few highlights of the meeting:

  • People in Reynoldstown are some of the friendliest, coolest people I’ve met in town.
  • There’s a lot going on in Reynoldstown. People are involved and there’s plenty to do if folks want to participate.
  • Reynoldstown is part of Atlanta Police Department Zone 6. Crime in Zone 6 has been reduced more than in any other Atlanta police zone recently.
  • That being said, there are thieves who go around Atlanta stealing the exhaust systems from Honda and Toyota SUV’s. They’re easy to steal and can be sold for good money as scrap. Park your SUV off street if possible.
  • Trees Atlanta will be planting trees in Reynoldstown on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this Monday, January 19th at 9:00am. If you want to participate, meet at the corner of Moreland Ave and Hardee St. at 9:00am. Bring a water bottle and garden gloves if you have them.

APD Helpful Information

Did you know you can get onto the Atlanta Police Department website to see crime statistics in any area of Atlanta? It’s a really helpful tool. If you don’t know your zone, you can find it here: http://www.atlantapd.org/findmyzone.aspx. And here’s the link to see the crime stats in zone 6: http://www.atlantapd.org/zone6.aspx.
