In its 13th year, the Wonder Ball is the annual fundraiser at ANCS. Through a dinner, raffle and silent and live auctions, ANCS will raise over $100,000 to aid in its continued commitment to creative learning of K-8th graders here in Ormewood Park, Grant Park and surrounding neighborhoods. As one of Georgia’s best charter schools, ANCS not only relies on, but thrives on, a vibrant and active community. Only with the involvement of student families, neighbors and community businesses has ANCS been a solid elementary and middle school education alternative.

Red Robin REALTORS is proud to be a Farm Level sponsor. Broker, Melissa Wakamo, a 20 year resident of the neighborhood shared some special thoughts recently on social media about the important role of Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School in our Community.

12373288_946095928804229_7268086574004642742_nThere are many, many things I love about my neighborhood and community. But, the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) in Grant Park & Ormewood Park holds a place dear to my heart. I don’t have kids that go there, but I have so many friends and neighbors whose families have worked tirelessly over the years to make it a tremendous asset to our community. Back when I moved into Ormewood Park in 1995, there really were not any good school options for families — ANCS was the first to step up and create a viable option. Which made our community a great, affordable neighborhood for young families.

Now, 20 years later, we have some really amazing schools in our community, including Parkside Elementary, Wesley International Academy, Burgess-Peterson Academy and Maynard H. Jackson High School. And, so many in the community are still working hard to make our schools exceptional.

Those of you who know me, know that I am a huge supporter of our schools. Even without kids, I recognize that good schools are vital to the health and happiness of my community and my business.  Red Robin Realtors is pleased to be a Farm Level sponsor of the Wonderball, a fundraiser for ANCS. And, I hope to see many of you, my dear friends and neighbors, there on March 5!

When Melissa Wakamo began her real estate career in 2004, her goal was to focus on her immediate area and get to know her neighbors. "I've had a lot of fun over the years helping my neighbors sell their homes and helping newcomers become a part of our community."

Melissa quickly became one of metro Atlanta's top producing agents and consistently performed in the top 1% of all Atlanta agents. By 2009, Melissa's real estate team had grown to include several agents and support staff, dedicated to providing exceptional service to buyers and sellers in Atlanta's intown neighborhoods.

In 2010, Melissa transitioned Red Robin REALTORS® into an independently owned boutique brokerage. Even in the tough real estate market during that time, Red Robin REALTORS® continued to outperform other small brokerages and was able to help buyers and sellers adapt to the rapid changes in the market.

In 2017, Melissa had the opportunity to merge the Red Robin REALTORS team with another like-minded boutique brokerage, Keller Knapp Realty. The two community-focused organizations bring together more than 100 agents, including 3 of the top 10 agents in metro Atlanta. With offices in Oakhurst, Ormewood Park and Midtown, Keller Knapp Realty and Red Robin REALTORS team are the top boutique real estate firm in Atlanta.

In her role as Managing Broker, Melissa provides agent training, marketing and strategic oversight for the Brokerage, ensuring that the brokerage maintains its focus and commitment to the intown market.

Melissa's active participation in various neighborhood organizations and charitable efforts, as well as her passion for antiques, cooking, and gardening, keep her busy and in touch with the community.
