Cool Water Spots Intown

It’s no secret, it can be sweltering in Atlanta during the summer! Check out these cool places to offer some relief! Hey… swimming isn’t just for kids – we all need to cool off when temperatures rise! Check out these recommended pools, creeks, splash pads and more.

The Chattahoochee River

There are many of places along the Chattahoochee River to hike, put your feet in the water, kayak or float down the river and more… One on our list is on a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, Old Roswell Mill On Vickery Creek. You can learn about the history of the area, take a hike and dip your toes (or more) into the water while enjoying the views!

Swimming Pools

City of Atlanta offers some great pools open to all City of Atlanta residents – these are a few favorites.

The Grant Park and Candler Park pools are nearby and a quick way to cool off in the neighborhood!   And, we also love the Garden Hills and Piedmont Park pools. Check the hours for free and paid swim times. Click here for complete hours, fees and locations.

If you’re a member of the YMCA, they have two pools that are worth checking out.  The East Lake Family YMCA pool on Memorial Drive features swimming lanes and a toddler pool.  One of our faves is the pool at the Carl E Sanders YMCA on Moore’s Mill Road — it’s worth venturing out of the neighborhood a bit for the water slide!  If you join the YMCA, you can go to all metro Atlanta locations and enjoy all the facilities have to offer this summer.  Most locations feature indoor pools for rainy days.

Splash Pads

These water features are such fun and very popular with the littlest ones and they are all over the place. But really, what adult doesn’t love to run through the “sprinklers” bringing back memories of childhood and cool off. Check out some fun favorites or ones that are on our summer bucket list:

Many of the favorite Atlanta attractions now have splash pads such as Zoo Atlanta, The Atlanta Botanical Gardens and of course, Centennial Olympic Park. Many of these features are free or are included in admission fee.

Water Parks

No summer would be complete in Atlanta without a day trip to  Six Flags White Water or Lanier World.  Both of these long-time family favorites offer water slides, pools, food and fun!

For Adults Only

Want to lounge, enjoy music and cocktails poolside? You can without having hotel reservations. You can visit the W ATLANTA – BUCKHEAD. Their WET Deck is open all summer long and SUNDAE is a weekly pool party every Sunday with the hottest DJs in town. It is open to the public with a purchase of a ticket. Find out more…

These are just a few intown areas we’ve visited or are planning to venture to this summer!  Of course, you’ll be our new favorite neighbor if you have a pool  that we can jump in to cool off.  Happy Summer!
