The Battle of Atlanta, which was part of the Atlanta Campaign and sealed the fate of the Confederacy, was fought in East Atlanta behind Union lines resulting in more than 12,000 deaths.  Today many historic markers do the neighborhood including two upturned cannons where Confederate General Walk and Union General McPherson were killed. 
2. The Flatiron Pub in EAV was originally a police HQ. FALSE
In 1911, The East Atlanta Banking Company were the first tenants of the old fashioned “Flat Iron” shaped building located at the corner of Flat Shoals and Glenwood. 
3. East Atlanta is a district of Atlanta.  FALSE
There are 8 districts in Atlanta, which are made up of neighborhoods.  East Atlanta is a neighborhood that belongs in the Eastside District of Atlanta.
 Other neighborhoods in the Eastside District include: Atkins Park, Cabbagetown, Candler Park, Druid Hills, East Lake, Edgewood, Grant Park, Glenwood Park, Inman Park, Kirkwood, Lake Claire, Lindridge, Martin Manor, Little Five Points, Morningside, Lenox Park, Oakland, Old Fourth Ward, Ormewood Park, Piedmont Heights, Poncey-Highland, Reynoldstown, Sweet Auburn, Virginia Highlands.  (Memorize this…  there might be a Facebook contest  in the near future..hint, hint!) Yes that is correct.  The Creative Loafing, a weekly Atlanta newspaper voted East Atlanta the best neighborhood for two years in a row.

Sadly the great American past time of going to watch a drive-in movie has become very scarce. Open since 1949, Starlight Drive-In nearly always guarantees a joyous communal experience with digital quality.
